Anyone else excited for Screamin’ Festival already? I’ll be heading to Barcelona for this years Screamin’ Festival with the Fabulous Times ladies (Theresa, Sarah and Christianne) I figured, what better way to share my excitement than to create a little Screamin’ Festival Style Survival Guide including a few insider cheats along with some vintage pics of Screamin’ Fest from years gone by.
Hope you enjoy a wee nostalgia trip back to the days before I saved up for a decent DSLR and feel inspired to join us at this years festival!…

Screamin’ Festival is in a league of it’s own in terms of rockabilly and vintage festivals. Unlike most festivals Screamin’ is set at the beach in summer (June) so you’re pretty much guaranteed a glorious summer holiday combined with all the perks of a swingin’ festival atmosphere.
ABOVE: Lynette Morgan & The Blackwater Valley Boys. Screamin’ Festival is usually separated across a number of venues from the beach bar, large main stage tent and numerous hotels that offer good rates for festival goers, which means you are free to dip in and out of the weekends itinerary as you please.
If you like the sound of a classic summer beach holiday washed down with tons of live rock ‘n’ roll, doo wop and rockabilly, a killer pool party, beach party with BBQ and vintage car show, then you’ll freaking love Screamin’!
Headscarves are essential: If you wake up after dancing all night and cannot bring yourself to style your hair properly a headscarf, sunglasses and red lippy can be your saving grace for a day at the beach. Sling a headscarf on and hide a multitude of sins in style. (LEFT: Me wearing my trusty matching circle skirt and headscarf ensemble in 2009! RIGHT: Theresa throwing on a pink headscarf for a day at the beach)
Pack a parasol: For the super sunny days be sure to pack a parasol to keep the midday sun at bay. If you have pale skin like I do you’ll know the dangers of hanging out on the beach all day, it’s real easy to forget how easy it is to get sunburnt. (LEFT: hanging out at the pool party with Eitaro from Switchblade 3, RIGHT: messing around at the beach party with my Mum)
Pack a circle skirt: I always pack at least one circle skirt that matches or at the very least looks okay worn with my bikini top, this way I can head inside and purchase a drink at the bar without feeling like a weirdo walking around in my bikini pants. (LEFT: Sarah & I under our parasols posing on the beach, RIGHT: Moi sipping Coca-Cola)
Pack a Hawaiian number: Never be caught out without a Hawaiian number! You can never go wrong with a splash of Hawaiian style in your wardrobe. At some point throughout the festival there’s more than likely to be a wild Hawaiian beach party complete with Hula girls. (LEFT Theresa and me taking mirror selfies, RIGHT: the Hawaiian beach party in full swing)
