Every so often we lose motivation, maybe you’re struggling to study or have lost all motivation to work out, we’ve all been there. It can be tough to stop procrastinating and just get started again. If you’re eager to regain your sense of enthusiasm, here are 5 ways to get motivated…

Progress not perfection
Sometimes we put things off because we feel like we’re not ready or we’re waiting for that missing puzzle piece before we get started. Focus on progress not perfection. Say you’re training for a charity run and you ran for 5 minutes yesterday, go for 7 minutes today, you don’t need to begin your journey at the destination.

Getting motivated
If you’re stuck in a rut at work and don’t feel motivated. Learning a new skill could help you to develop a sense of personal growth that you may be missing. It can also help you to evolve your business. Think about a skill that you’ve always wanted to learn that could value your business such as marketing skills or tech skills. You may be able to take a short course or learn by yourself using online resources. Aim for small nuggets of progress, NOT PERFECTION.
Take a long break
Taking a long break sounds a little contradictory, right? If you’re struggling to get motivated to achieve your goals, maybe you just need to take some time, be patient with yourself. Occasionally we all need to recharge our batteries, to regain the energy to put back into our lives. A break can also give you perspective, allowing you to focus on the bigger picture and plan improvements and future goals.

Seek out professional advice
If you feel like your lack of motivation is caused by depression, perhaps you need to seek some professional advice. It always helps to talk things through with a neutral party. Sometimes it’s hard to find an answer to all the issues you’re faced with. Perhaps you’re encountering financial issues or problems with your business. These issues might be at the heart of your lack of motivation. Talking to a professional advisor could be beneficial, helping you to learn new solutions to these problems. There are specialist advisors out there catered to every area of business from HR consultants to financial advisors.
Change your work environment
Working from the same environment every day could be stunting your productivity. A change of environment can help to inspire creativity and make you more alert. You could consider investing in interior office design to help make your office gain a fresh energy. Alternatively, you could consider moving office if you feel your current workplace no longer fits your needs. You may not even need to make a permanent change – simply refreshing your home office space or working away from your office by going to the library or working outside for a day could help to motivate you by giving you the change that you need.
Shake up your schedule
Change is essential for motivation – if you get yourself into too much of a repetitive routine, you’ll start to get bored. When it comes to getting motivated, change might be all you need. Consider new ways of organising your day. You could try getting up earlier and then try giving yourself a longer lunch break or you could try prioritising new tasks first to see if you perform them better. Some people feel more motivated by routine, although by and large everyone needs a bit of variety in their life.
Hopefully a few of these tips will resonate with you and maybe help kick start your progress. Remember progress is what you’re striving for, not perfection. Also, remember to reward yourself after every little milestone, you deserve it!
