With summer on the horizon, now is the time to start thinking about those upcoming summer weddings. If you’re lucky enough to have had an invitation through the letterbox, it’s time to get excited and of course- to start outfit planning! Here’s a little look at ideas for what colour to wear to a summer wedding…
There are certain colours that are generally deemed as wholly inappropriate to wear as a summer wedding guest, black for example. Black is traditionally associated with funerals or mourning. Unless the wedding you’re attending has specified that black is part of the dress code or you’re heading to a more rock ‘n’ roll, gothic affair- then black is usually best avoided.
Brights: Bold pops of bright colours are always encouraged for a summer wedding. Bold colours are cheerful, fun and reflect the summer season perfectly. If you’re nervous about wearing colour then you could always throw on a brightly coloured pashmina or bright accessories.
Pastel Colours: Pretty pastel colours are a safe bet for a summer wedding. Pastels are cheerful but can be still elegant and understated. Go for a powder blue or soft rose pink for a pretty vintage-inspired look. Other understated, elegant pastel colour choice would be a sage, blush or pale summery sorbet yellow.
Neutrals: Simple, elegant neutrals are fabulous but if you’re a guest do avoid ivory or white, as you don’t want to appear to be upstaging the bride! If you’re a member of the wedding party, then of course ivory bridesmaids dresses are always lovely. If you’re little loved on is part of the big day you might like to go for white flower girl dresses or pretty ivory flower girl dresses. Neutral colours like camel, mink, mushroom or delicate pale grey are both sophisticated and elegant, so make the ideal choice.
