Do you have any birthday traditions? It’s becoming a bit of a tradition spending a warm May day out in the park in London each year to celebrate the birthday of my sister Theresa. Each year a gang of us get together loaded with baskets full of food, drinks, sunglasses and suitably ridiculous toys.
This year was no exception. We thanked our lucky stars that the sun was blazing in the sky it felt as if summer had finally arrived in London! I got Theresa a polka dot picnic basket as a gift and hope it’ll get plenty of use this summer.
We blew bubbles to while away the summer afternoon, Christiane played Justin Bieber on the ukulele and Theresa even brought a parachute, which brought never-ending amusement.
For anyone following my Instagram you’ll know I’m always out photographing flowers, so of course this occasion was no exception…only this time I managed to sting my legs on the nettles (so feel free to take twice as much pleasure from the pink flowers picture, I suffered for this one!)
As the perfect picnic day drew to a close, the sun was low in the sky, we laughed and joked until nearly bedtime. What an excellent birthday tradition.
