Claire has been delighting food and festival-goers with Ginger’s Comfort Emporium’s daring, exotic, playful and down-right gorgeous ice-creams, the array of flavours include Olive Oil and Smoked Sea Salt flavour, Marmalade on Toast and a breakfast ice-cream to savour any time of the day. Claire’s award-winning recipes are now available in a lusciously illustrated book titled MELT. MELT shares Claire’s finest flavours and demonstrates how simple it is to make her award-winning ices at home, without a machine! I caught a rare moment with Claire during her hectic summer season to capture a glimpse into her delicious World:
1. What inspired you to start your business? A love of the sweeter things in life, being a total fidget who can’t keep still, and hating working for other people!
2. As an entrepreneur what is the hardest challenge you’ve had to face? What “the public” expects and wants. I always imagine everyone is like me. Fortunately enough people enjoy my unusual ice creams, but there’s still a lot of strange ideas about ice cream – you only eat it in hot weather (yawn) and vanilla is king (double yawn!)
4. After an exciting year and the launch of your book, what does the future hold? Who knows…. that’s the exciting thing!
