Q: List 3 things you love about blogging:
I adore blogging because it gives me a chance to be part of a larger community than the one I have locally. I don’t know anyone who loves vintage or fashion so I consider my followers to be my own group of like-minded friends. It amazes me when someone comments on my blog and they mention they are from some exotic place like Hong Kong or India! To have women who are interested in the same things I am, all over the world, is something that astounds and thrills me to my core.
It is fun to be able to go back and see what I was writing about one year, two years, even three years ago. If you blog for long enough, it becomes a sort of diary that can be passed down through the ages. Can you imagine if Chanel had a blog; what a treat that would be! As a matter of fact, there is a book coming out (in the States) which publishes the memos of Diana Vreeland (the editor in chief of Vogue from 1963-1971) which are said to be very similar to what blogs are now. I can’t wait to read them!I started blogging because I was looking for a way to be creative while staying home with my kids. I find the whole gestalt of blogging to be a creative endeavour, from figuring out what to write, to taking pictures, to editing, and everything in between. Being creative makes me happy, ergo blogging makes me happy! And who doesn’t love being happy?
Q: List 3 Fabulous blogs that have inspired you?
Only three? I have so many that I think are inspirational, but the three that immediately come to mind are Chronically Vintage, Va-Voom Vintage, and of course, Vixen Vintage. I have been following all three gals since I started four years ago, and I feel like they are my virtual blogging family. I believe every person you meet has something to teach you, and it is up to you to find out what that lesson is. Jessica has taught me that a kind word can brighten up even the darkest of days, Solanah reminds me of my young carefree life before having kids, and that I should try to keep that spirit, even when my patience is wearing thin, and Brittany is a business woman extraordinaire! She is always on the forefront of the blogging world and will try just about anything, which I think shows a courageous and creative entrepreneurial strength.
Q: List 3 Fabulous tips for aspiring bloggers.
Write about what you love. Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle. A picture is worth 1,000 words.
