Redecorating your home is a great way to positively impact your life. Making changes to your surroundings is a fairly simple way to get a fresh perspective on things. The smallest changes really can make a big difference. You know that feeling when you make a fresh change to your room and you’re busting with joy and the whole space feels different. Those moments of joy are what make every day life fabulous. Pouring a little love into your home can drastically impact your everyday. Here’s a look at how redecorating can make a positive difference…
Mr T and I are still very much in the “living in a building site” stage, in the hallway there’s plaster hanging off the walls and no flooring down. We’re busy saving, planning and getting quotes for jobs that need to be completed. The work that we have completed together thus far brings us so much joy. Occasionally we’ll share a moment of gratitude, like when we use one of our fully functioning plug sockets in the kitchen(!) or put a bottle in our cooler. It’s these little moments that make all the rubble, hard-work and chaos worth while. You don’t need to fully overhaul your kitchen to create that joy though, there’s plenty of smaller ways to redecorate to make a positive change…
Soft and Simple
Sometimes a simple change can make a positive difference. Something as simple as investing in a new duvet. Can anything beat that joyous feeling of waking up in a lovely fresh duvet? Adding a few new cushions on the sofa to maximise comfort might be all the change that you need. Perhaps you want to invest in a new throw or a blanket to snuggle up in and watch TV. The smallest of decor changes can change the look of the room and also make a positive difference to the way you feel.
Curtains and Blinds
Having fabulous curtains or blinds can really change the look of a room. Choosing the right window treatment can be the difference between a good nights sleep or endless sleepless nights. Places like Direct Blinds are great as they provide blinds of all varieties including venetian, roller and wooden blinds. Switching up your window dressing can have such a positive impact. We have two pairs of curtains, a heavy duty thick pair in winter and a lighter summer pair. The difference in the room when we change them seasonally is dramatic and marks the beginning of a new season.
Colour is key
The easiest way to create a positive impact to your home is with colour. Colour has the power to create all kinds of emotions and feelings. Neutral colours and natural tones will make you feel calmer, where as bold fiery colours may cause us to experience a different type of energy all together. Opting for a zen bedroom colour will help you to feel more calm and relaxed. There’s nothing simper than buying a pot of paint and redecorating your room to create a dramatic change for relatively little money and in a short space of time. Changing the colour of your walls is a simple way to create a real positive difference.
