As the world awakens from its six month slumber, so spring begins. The long winter nights retreat as the sound of bird song calls. The dark mornings have ended, the heating is switched off, thermals are packed away and the clocks have handed us an extra hour of glorious daylight. The trees are tentatively blossoming as the start of a new season appears to be arriving full of promise and dare I say, sunshine!
Caught up in the excitement of the new season arriving, the cotton dresses have been unpacked, ironed and hung. Black tights are almost a thing of the past. The daffodils are out, the shops are stacked high with Easter eggs and there is talk of a trip to the garden centre for flowers in time for the great spring tidy up.
The spring sunshine makes way for a flurry of family walks, al fresco dining, casual cotton shirts and notebooks filled with ideas for the months to come. We shake off the sluggishness of winter and begin to recharge in the bright daylight. Reminiscing, my Ode to Autumn feels a lifetime away from the start of spring.
(Outfit: Barbour Jacket as standard, Sunglasses Rebecca Minkoff)Our first family walk following the spring equinox was at Dunham Massey where the sky was blue and the trees were speckled with green. That feeling of the warm sun on your face melts away the winter blues.Spring is the time for bright ideas to awaken and come to life. Spring is time for a fresh start, for new life to grow and to evolve. And so spring begins…
