One of the goals on my list for 2019 was to get a new sofa. As you may know already from previous posts, Mr T and I are very gradually redecorating and renovating our home. Although our living room is fairly low down on the agenda, the struggle of choosing a new sofa is real- so needs a lot of consideration! There are so many factors to think about and so many websites touting the best deals, uncountable fabric options and more shapes and styles than you could shake a stick at.
Choosing a new sofa does feel like quite an epic decision. We’re looking for comfort but don’t want to sacrifice the style. I’ve been tentatively browsing online at sofas and whilst my struggle of choosing a new sofa continues- I thought I’d share a little ongoing inspiration…
Colour:
As much as I’d like to be, I won’t pretend that we are the type of household that could have a light coloured sofa– we’re just not! We need a darker colour or a mid-tone at the very least. I like the idea of dark grey or maybe a tan brown.
Material:
Currently we have a leather sofa, which works well as it’s practical and wipe clean for any spills. The downside of leather is that it can feel a little cold. Velvet would be lovely but I’m concerned about cat hair. I’m currently leaning towards tan leather. I love the natural earthy tone and know that it will soften and age well.
Shape:
We love the look of vintage, antique style sofas- but they don’t always make for the best option when it comes to lounging on a Netflix marathon. We’ve also debated getting a corner sofa, which would certainly be comfortable but might take up too much space.
The Dillon corner sofa from Sofa Workshop looks very comfortable and would be great for major lazy weekends. Although, I do really love the classic shapes from sofasandstuff.com who create bespoke, handmade sofas in timeless, classic styles.
Watch this space for any big decisions being made!
