- Tell us a bit about HATH…What inspired you to begin HATH with your Co-Founder Kelley Ireland-Kelly?
In a world where productivity and efficiency are valued so highly, exhaustion and burnout seem almost unavoidable. I know, personally, I want to do it all and I rarely find the time to check in with myself before it’s too late and I’m completely run-down. It goes without saying that I’m not alone in this. Regardless of age, gender or occupation, we are all constantly being pulled in 10 different directions and it’s taking a toll on our minds and bodies. With this realization, consumers have a new-found focus on personal well-being and are continuously searching to find new ways to promote health and balance within the confines of their demanding lifestyles.

The inspiration for HATH really began when we, as wellness-focused consumers, couldn’t find what we were looking for in the existing CBD market. Despite how many brands and products were out there, we struggled to find the ones that fit into our lifestyles and cut through all of the confusion in the market. Once we identified what was missing, we decided to create it ourselves.

- What are the common reasons why women choose your products to help them?
Between misleading labels and non-existent quality standards, the CBD market is still quite difficult to navigate, despite its growing popularity. One thing that is really important to us and I think our customers really gravitate towards is our transparency. On every HATH product we provide a scannable QR code that leads you directly to test results from third-party labs. This allows our customers to know and feel comfortable with what they are putting in their bodies and eliminates the burden of having to do the research themselves.

Wellbeing for everyday life
Another reason why women love our products is because they easily integrate into everyday life. When we were developing our product line it was important to ensure that our offerings were both socially-acceptable and practical for daily use. We view CBD as the future of wellness and understand that if you are embarrassed or have to go out of your way to use a product you likely won’t be using it on a daily basis to get the full benefit. Our limited product line also makes it easy to understand the right product based on your needs and for women, who are often the primary shopper for their households, this really simplifies the shopping experience regardless of who they are purchasing for.

Being an Entrepreneur…
- What do you enjoy most about running your own company and what are some of the challenges you face?
I really enjoy the personal satisfaction I feel knowing that the success of the company is directly impacted by my efforts, judgements, and decisions. It creates a motivation that makes me genuinely excited to go to work everyday. I equally enjoy the collaborative aspect of leading a small company. Being able to work with such smart, talented individuals from all from different backgrounds, I learn something new everyday and we truly have so much fun bringing our visions to life. Of course, there are stressful times too. Things don’t always go according to plan and sometimes it’s completely unpreventable. I think rolling with the punches was my biggest challenge in the beginning, but I’ve learned that mostly everything can be fixed and that sometimes things don’t work out for a reason.
My biggest challenge today is definitely disconnecting. When you run your own business there is no such thing as a true “day off”. I am lucky to be part of team where we are all willing to step up and help each other out when needed, but it’s still difficult for me to turn off when I know how much needs to get done at any given moment.
- As a woman with her own company, do you have any pearls of wisdom to share with women who have similar ambitions (in any field)?
Believe in yourself. When I was first contemplating leaving my steady finance job to co-found HATH, I was honestly terrified. What if I can’t do it? What if I’m not good enough? What if I don’t know enough? These questions played on repeat in my head. I turned to friends, family and trusted advisors for guidance and I somehow mustered up the courage to get past my doubts and go for it and today I couldn’t be happier. The answers to those questions revealed themselves in short order. You can. You are. You’ll learn. In my time at HATH, I’ve realized that passion and determination go a long way and, more times than not, are the key drivers of success.
- What does the next year look like for you? What’s next for yourself and HATH?
Busy! Right now we are super focused on gaining awareness and earning the trust of consumers, with the goal over the next year to significantly expand distribution. We are also excited to be working on a few new products that the market is currently lacking today — these will be CBD game-changers, so keep an eye out.
Behind the scenes, our medical advisory board will be working to encourage and help with the study of CBD from a clinical perspective to support the increasing demand for natural alternatives to harsh drugs.
As for me, I’ll be here for all of it, excited to see where this ride takes us.
