We caught up with Carrie to get an insight into her World.
Q: Tell us 3 reasons you began the Female Entrepreneur Association website?
The main reason I started it was because I was feeling really lonely and isolated running my first online business, which I started in 2005. I worked from my home office, by myself and didn’t really know any other like-minded women.
I was also inspired to set it up after reading The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber. In a chapter on primary aims Michael asks you to picture your own funeral and think about what you’d want your friends and family to be saying about the kind of life that you lived, about the kind of person you were and about the kind of things you achieved. It hit me hard and made me realise that I really had no clue (beyond knowing that I wanted to be successful) what I wanted in life. At that point I’d spent the past few years of my life building a business I wasn’t passionate about, because my goal was to become financially free. I had this idea in my head that if I was rich then my life would be amazing, but it wasn’t true. So I spent some time thinking about what I actually wanted to achieve in life, what my values were, what meant a lot to me. I decided I wanted to create something that I loved and was passionate about – I love entrepreneurship, turning ideas into a reality, I love helping people, I love inspiring people and the Female Entrepreneur Association ticked all of those boxes.
The third reason why I started it was because I believed I could make something amazing happen with it. Back when I started it I couldn’t find any websites that talked about the truth of being an entrepreneur – the ups and downs.Q: Tell us 3 Fabulous blogs/ websites that have inspired you?
3. Gabrielle Bernstein’s websiteQ: List 3 quotes that have inspired you and explain why
“I can and I will. Watch me.” – makes me feel like anything is possible and I can make it happen.
“Your destiny is determined by the choices you make, choose now, choose well.” Anthony Robbins – I love this, because it’s so true.
“Everything in life can be taken away from you, except your freedom to choose how you respond” Vikor Frankl – I think this is such a powerful statement. No matter what situations we face in life, we always have the power to choose how we respond. I find this quote so empowering, whenever I’m in a difficult situation it gives me the strength to see things different and to carry on.
I know you said 3, but there is another quote that has helped me so much over the years…
“Successful people hang on when everyone else has let go.” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve felt like giving up along my entrepreneurial journey, but this quote always helps me to keep going.
Special thank you to Carrie for taking the time to answer our questions and for her continual inspiration!
