Number 4. on my ‘100 things to do in 2012′ is to try new things. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post we went horse riding today! It was my first time ever to mount a horse. Growing up in Yorkshire famous for its green hills and ample farming, it may come as a surprise to some that I’ve managed to get this far without ever riding a horse.
I was pretty nervous at first with images of me being thrown off by some wild stallion. However the reality was far better than I could have imagined, I rode Marmalade a gentle, golden horse that plodded along at a reassuring pace.
I even managed to find a helmet that fitted my large head! We rode the horses around Grandmont, through the village and woodlands. We plodded through the fallen leaves in their golden brown shades, bobbed and weaved in between trees and low branches. Helena rode a lovely little horse called Benjie.
