At a blogger meet up many moons ago I was described as a ‘kitchen sink blogger’, I’ll be the first to admit, I’m a multi-passionate person. Creating The Fabulous Times has been wildly enriching in more ways than I could possibly mention. Besides allowing me to share heaps of inspiring articles and pics with you, one of the most incredible and unexpected things building the site has allowed me to do is, flex my creativity, learn heaps, stay curious and experiment with subjects that I’ve long been curious about but never had time to delve into.
I’ve experimented and developed my writing skills, knowledge of photography, networking ability, travelled the world, tinkered with website design, graphics, editing, social marketing, to name but a few.
I edit The Fabulous Times part-time and fill the rest of my time working as a freelance fashion designer for various high-street brands. I’ve been a creative soul from childhood, aced art college, graduated University with a degree in Fashion Design and have been working as a commercial designer for over 8years. Until a year ago I worked as a Design Manager full-time in London. Following our 2007 USA blogging roadtrip I decided to devote more time to the website and take the plunge to go freelance! what’s she rabbeting on about you may ask?! well…
This year on my list of ‘100 things to do in 2014’ (which I haven’t shared online this time!) I decided to go back to school!!! I’ve always been of the mindset that you’re never to old to learn, so when I was offered the chance to try out one of the reed.co.uk online courses, I jumped at the chance!!
The obvious choice would be to embark on a further design, social media or other design/ tech related course, but who wants the obvious choice? I opted to experiment, to throw myself into uncharted territory and enrol on the distance learning Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Course (CBT). My decision for choosing CBT was based on a number of factors, I want to help people, I want to learn more about the human condition, I believe most problems can be solved with understanding and positive action.
Now don’t get me wrong I’ll not be packing up my pencil case and quitting designing. I’m simply probing outside of my little world, venturing a little beyond our fabulous corner of the internet and looking to understand the Universe a little more each day. If you’re toying with the idea of learning something new, I say do it! you’re never too old to try something new, who knows where it might lead… I’ll be sharing my progression throughout the course, wish me luck!
