Best Days of Summer- I took to the playground of Europe like an eager child on their first day at nursery, excited to frolic around and discover all that Monte-Carlo had on offer. At the Monte-Carlo Beach Relais & Chateux I laid under the cool shade of the stripy umbrellas occasionally kicking off my flip-flops and skipping over to the pool baking my feet on the ground before paddling in the shallow end.
On a hot July day the faint echo of a mistral sea breeze brushing in from the Mediterranean Sea was a welcome relief from the midday sun. From the poolside you can hear the sound of children splashing and the live band at Le Deck restaurant dressed in Hawaiian shirts playing pleasantly French sounding covers of classic Rat Pack songs. –A lush midsummer moment out of time.
Dressed in only a South Beach high-waisted bikini and my new Allaria Calf Hair flip-flops from UGG, I lounged squinting at the sun taking a few obligatory ‘holiday’ selfies, much to the confusion of neighboring sun worshippers. I couldn’t be happier with my new summer staples, the South Beach Bikini is great quality, comfortable and flattering. The Allaria Calf Hair flip-flops from UGG are padded underneath the foot so offer the correct support as well as all the usual benefits of a regular flip-flop.
If you’re planning a holiday this year, UGG Australia are currently running a #bestdaysofsummer competition offering you the chance to win a £300 UGG Australia gift card. To enter you need to upload a picture of yourself wearing a pair of flip-flops, sandals, slippers or whatever shoes you own made by UGG, preferably against a summery backdrop. They’re looking for entries that combine great photography with inspirational stories.
#bestdaysofsummer competition is open from 16 July to 16 August 2014.
‘I am writing to you from the terrace, where I have just had my breakfast in cahoots with the sea. It is the paradise you told me of: the people are delightful. The sun is warm. Yesterday afternoon when I got here, I could have sunbathed’ –Raymond Radiguet to John Hugo 1920
