As if by Magic up pops a cracking exhibition at Museum of the city New York that I simply must see! The Cecil Beaton exhibition opened in New York today and will be showing from October 25th – February 20th, 2012, open 7 days a week from 10am – 6pm; 1220 5th Avenue at 103rd Street.
Cecil Beaton: The New York years. Beaton was a highly sought after photographer known for his surrealistic re-imaginations of aristocratic women and famous personalities. The exhibition will display some of hs finest work from 1920’s- right through to the swinging sixties.Beaton captured some serious movers and shakers of the past for both commercial [his work was regularly seen on the pages of American Vogue] and for love of creating an image. Photographs of some real knock outs can be seen ranging from Picasso to Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Greta Garbo- with whom he had a drawn out affair and many others.
